History

Refugee and Immigration Services is an agency of Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri. The Refugee Services program was founded in 1975 following the airlift of Vietnamese refugees. Originally, it was a program of the Diocese of Jefferson City. In 1985, the Immigration Services program was added.  In January of 2012, both programs became part of Catholic Charities of Central and Northern Missouri (CCCNMO).

Since establishment in 1975 the program has resettled refugees from over 20 countries. While client demographics have fluctuated as conflict and political situations abroad have changed, we currently resettle populations primarily from Myanmar (formerly Burma), Iraq, and northern Africa.
